Original size: 40 × 30 cm, watercolour
El Kauzo was inspired by the watercolor negative space technique, where everything must be painted by preserving the light. Nothing can be added later, only planned and protected in advance. That means every shape must be imagined before it appears.
The composition follows a quiet curiosity: A desire to look deeper, to follow the scene through its many layers from the glowing trees in the front, to the dark woods in the back, until the path disappears into the unknown. What lies beyond the darkness? You decide.
Standing watch is El Kauzo, the silent owl. His name is a playful mix of two languages, “Kauz” from German, “El” from Spanish, because this idea first took form on a holiday in Spain.
Experience every brushstroke and vibrant hue of the original “El Kauzo” in your own space. Each painting is professionally captured using a high-precision CCD-technology scanner, preserving every delicate wash, grain of the paper, and subtle color gradient at ultra-high resolution.
